In order for the Stamford Police Department to take action regarding a bad check several conditions must be met. Some of these are:

The check must exceed $100.00
The check must have been presented and/or accepted in Stamford
The check was issued by a Stamford resident and mailed out of state
The check must be stamped insufficient Funds” and “Do Not Redeposit” or holes must be punched in the check where the account number is printed. A stamp of “Account Closed” will also fulfill these requirements
The complaint must be made to the Stamford Police within 90 days of receiving the check
