Government Center Front Sidewalk Reconstruction

The Transportation, Traffic & Parking Department invites interested members of the public to a virtual public hearing to discuss the Government Center Front Sidewalk Reconstruction Project. This project will rebuild the front sidewalk and patio of the Stamford Government Center along Washington Blvd and Tresser Blvd. As part of the project, new trees, lighting, and public seating areas will be created. The sidewalks will be rebuilt to ADA standards. The project is funded by the Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Urban Action Grant Program. Interested members of the community are welcome to attend to learn more about the project and ask questions of the project team. The virtual meeting will be held via Zoom on Thursday, November 14^th 2024 at 6:00pm. Zoom information is below and available on the project webpage at StamfordCT.gov.

Background

Goals

The project will rebuild the front sidewalk and patio of the Government Center from the building face to the curb along Washington Blvd and Tresser Blvd. This project will build ADA compliant sidewalks, install new public seating areas, install new lighting, plant new and more trees, and create a new public space in downtown. Green space will be significantly enhanced with new bioswales, trees, and planted gardens.
