NO. Compostable bags are made from natural materials such as starch and decompose fully into compost, while recyclable bags are not.

No. Please continue to recycle paper with your regular recycling.

    • How is this good for the environment if I’m driving down to drop off food scraps?

Great question!  There are several ways to save on driving:

      • Coordinate your trip to Katrina Mygatt with other reasons to be at/near the drop-off site.
      • “Carpool Composting” is another good option to decrease our carbon emissions.Work with your neighbors and friends to take turns transporting a bunch of bins at once.
      • Depending on the success of this program, the City may make more drop-off sites available to the public in the future. So please spread the word!
    • Can I take home compost from Mygatt?

Residents will be able to take home compost once it is “cured” and once we have enough compost to distribute.
