Per Stamford Municipal Ordinance Sec. 123-5:
- Whenever any work for which a building permit is required has been commenced without first obtaining said building permit, an investigation fee may be assessed in addition to the building permit fee. When assessed, the investigation fee shall be collected whether or not a building permit is then or subsequently issued. The investigation fee shall be equal to the amount of the building permit fee required but in no case shall the investigation fee be less than two hundred dollars ($200.00).
- No new construction of a single family home, pool, deck or accessory structure shall be used, in whole or in part, until a Certificate of Occupancy has been issued by the Building Inspector, certifying that such building, structure or work performed pursuant to the building permit substantially conforms to the provisions of the Connecticut State Building Code and the regulations lawfully adopted under said code. All completed work that does not require a Certificate of Occupancy shall require a Certificate of Completion. Any owner, contractor or any other person or entity who allows occupancy and has not obtained a Certificate of Occupancy or Certificate of Completion when same is required may be subject to a fee of two hundred dollars ($200.00).
- Whenever it becomes necessary for the Building Inspector to re-inspect any construction work to determine that violations of the Building Code have been corrected, a re-inspection fee of fifty dollars ($50.00) may be assessed. All such fees shall be made payable to the Building Department in advance of such re-inspection.
- Whenever a Certificate of Occupancy is requested from the Building Department for construction, alterations or any activity requiring a building permit, one year or more after final inspections have been performed (or partial Certificates of Occupancy have been issued), an additional fee of two hundred dollars ($200.00) must be paid before said Certificate is issued.
- Whenever any electrical, plumbing or mechanical permit is issued for any work, and such work has been completed but no Certificate of Completion has been obtained within one year of completion, the permittee shall pay a fee of two hundred dollars ($200.00).
