Blind Exemption

Under Connecticut General Statute 12-81(17), resident of the State of Connecticut who is legally blind is eligible for an exemption of $3,000 off the assessment of the property he or she owns.

This exemption can be applied if the property is owned jointly with a spouse or is in the name of a spouse living with the person who is legally blind.

Applicant must submit a Certificate of Legal Blindness from the Bureau of Education and Services for the Blind (BESB) to the address below by October 1st to receive exemption on the tax bill due on July 1 of the succeeding year.
