Mayor Martin Statement re: State Brownfield Funding for Mill River Park

Post Date:07/01/2016 11:45 AM

STAMFORD, CT – Mayor David Martin released the following statement after the announcement by Governor Dannel P. Malloy that the City of Stamford will receive $362,000 from the State to remediate 1062 Washington Blvd., a parcel adjacent to Mill River Park:

“This is excellent news. Thank you to Governor Malloy, our State delegation and the Connecticut Department of Community and Economic Development for this significant funding to help the City remediate land that is adjacent to Mill River Park. Since I took office, it has been a priority of mine to open up access to the park from the Downtown and Columbus Park, and today’s announcement means that we are one step closer to making that a reality.

The Mill River Park has become a cornerstone of the downtown with trails, a playground and a new carousel slated to open this year. This funding will allow the City and the Mill River Collaborative to ensure that this parcel is clean and safe for use by parkgoers.”
