Read below to learn more about initiatives my administration is working on, resources for Stamford residents, information about upcoming events, and important city and state information.

 

MAYOR’S UPDATES

  • Veterans Day Weekend: This past weekend, we came together to honor the brave men and women who have selflessly served our country. We are deeply grateful for their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to protecting our nation and the freedoms we cherish.

  • Davenport Elementary School Visit: It was an honor to meet the leaders of tomorrow when I visited with the fifth-grade student council members at Davenport Elementary! These students are already making a difference in their school, promoting values like kindness and respect. It’s heartening to see the next generation stepping up to make their community a better place.

  • 2024 Leaf Pick Up: Leaf Pick Up has started. See below for your neighborhood’s deadline for leaving leaves outside! For more information click here.
    • Middle (Merritt Parkway to I-95): November 19, 2024

CITY NEWS

  • November Arts & Culture Guide: The City of Stamford and the Stamford Arts and Culture Commission are excited to announce, “Stamford Spotlight: A Celebration of Arts and Culture.” This guide highlights upcoming arts and cultural events in Stamford. Be sure to stop by and support our local organizations! Click here to view the November Guide.
  • Shop Local Fall Guide: We are excited to launch the City of Stamford's Fall Shop Local Guide! We encourage residents to use the guide during the fall season to shop locally and support small businesses. To see the list click here. Interested in being in our next Shop Local?   • Parking Garage Demolition: The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has initiated the demolition of the Stamford Transportation Center's 1985 Parking Garage and Pedestrian Bridge. For further details, click here. Check out this project one-sheet and visit our website to get involved, sign up for updates, and learn more about the plan.
  • Paving Update: Click here for the priority list for paving operations established in response to a city-wide road assessment in 2022.
  • Stamford Transportation Center Master Plan: Our administration has been meeting with the Connecticut Department of Transportation and city transportation officials to continue to make progress on the Stamford Train Station Master Plan. CITY EVENTS

  • Stamford 2035 Open House: Welcome to the Stamford 2035 Comprehensive Plan on Saturday, November 16, 2-4pm at the Ferguson Library. Help shape Stamford's future! Register here and join us for Stamford 2035 Comprehensive Plan's first open house to learn about the comprehensive planning process, investigate the state of the city, and share your vision for Stamford in 2035. Parents bring your kids for an adjoining youth workshop. Light refreshments will be served. Find more information here and on our website.
  • 35 Crescent Street Redevelopment Public Meeting: The City of Stamford is inviting all Stamford residents to a community meeting on Tuesday, November 19 at 7 PM at Union Memorial Church (58 Church St, Stamford, CT 06906). Share your ideas and help shape the future of the former Glenbrook Community Center! Options on the table include a community cultural center, mixed-use development, senior living, green space, and more. The meeting will be bilingual, with all materials in English and Spanish. Spanish-language support will also be available to ensure everyone can participate. Employment Opportunities in the City

  • Station Place Roadway: The Connecticut Department of Transportation will begin milling & paving operations, and full roadway closure of Station Place Roadway starting at 8:00 pm Friday night November 22nd and running through 6:00 am Monday November 25th. Construction activities will only happen at night (9pm - 5am) and the roadway will remain closed for this weekend.  Station Place Businesses will have access to their driveways via Washington Boulevard.  Station Place Roadway will be fully open to the public (2-way traffic) for Monday morning. CTDOT's contractor intends to setup the full roadway closure with the same detours used at the beginning of the project, routing traffic around Henry Street for the weekend. The North Sidewalk (along the north side of Station Place Roadway) and associated Station egresses will be closed during the nighttime operation hours for safety of the public.  The North Sidewalk and Station egress will open to the public for use during the daytime hours with no obstructions.  Station Place Roadway and the South Sidewalk will remain closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic for the duration of the operation.
  • Mill Road Bridge: The Mill Road bridge near Old Long Ridge Road is open to one lane vehicular traffic.  Residents can click here for updates.
  • Lakeside Drive Bridge Replacement: Lakeside Drive Bridge is closed to all traffic, including cyclists and pedestrians. Residents are reminded to please stay away from the construction site for your own safety. There is only access to the Aquarion Water treatment plant provided pass Quarry Road. For detour plans and more information click here.
  • Cedar Heights Bridge Replacement: The Cedar Heights Bridge is currently closed and is scheduled to be reopened in April 2025. Residents are encouraged to check here for more information.
  • West Glen Drive Bridge: West Glen Bridge is currently closed for replacement, and the anticipated completion date is 12/1/2024.
  • Hunting Ridge Road Bridge Replacement: The Hunting Ridge Road Bridge is currently closed for replacement. A detour route is in effect, with the project scheduled to be completed in June 2025. More information can be found here.
  • Connecticut Department of Transportation Stamford Station Construction: Construction continues at the Stamford Train Station, so please make sure to plan ahead.
