STAMFORD, CT – Mayor David Martin released the following statement celebrating the Stamford High Girls and Westhill High Boys Basketball teams winning 2016 FCIAC championships:

“Congratulations to the Westhill Boys Basketball team on their second consecutive FCIAC win last night. Congratulations to the Stamford High Girls Basketball team on their first FCIAC championship in 37 years.

Stamford Public Schools are great and they are getting better every year, in part because of the excellence of our students. They are basketball champions, Merit Scholars and accomplished artists among many other things.

The heart and commitment of all of Stamford’s high school sports teams is evident in how they compete, and is exemplified in these two teams. Best of luck to both teams as they move through the state tourney. I am proud that Stamford is the FCIAC High School Basketball capital!”
